Appeal against wind farm decision lodged

Wind farm developer Infinergy this week lodged its appeal against the decision made in March to refuse planning permission for ten turbines in the Vale of Belvoir.

The Dorset-based firm insists its proposal to build 415ft-tall turbines at the Thackson’s Well site near Bottesford is viable.

Project director Herbert Lindlahr said: “We are confident of our case.

“We studied the local area in great detail to assess its suitability for the project and found it to be one of the best locations in South Kesteven.

“Thackson’s Well is a thoroughly researched, well-designed proposition and one that we believe deserves further careful consideration.”

South Kesteven District Council’s development control committee refused permission for the wind farm against planning officers’ advice.

Infinergy is currently preparing evidence to be submitted at the public inquiry which will decide whether the project can go ahead or not.

If the planning inspector overturns SKDC’s decision and allows the project to progress, the council could be liable for thousands of pounds of costs.
