Group doubts objectors behind wind farm vandalism

A group opposing wind farms says people should not jump to conclusions after a wind monitoring tower was knocked down in Winchelsea.

Police believe the tower had its supporting cables cut.

The Victorian Landscape Guardians president, Randall Bell, says it may not have been done by people against the wind farm development.

Mr Bell says acts of vandalism are counterproductive to the Landscape Guardians’ argument.

“Why would you draw attention to yourself as someone who would act in an antisocial way?” he said.

“My view is that it wouldn’t be an objector who would do this, when you stop and think that’s not really what an objector would do.”
