The Historic Places Trust has come to agreement with Meridian Energy and has withdrawn from the Environment Court appeal over Project Hayes.
The trust had been a section 274 party under the Resource Management Act, opposing the decision to grant consent to Meridian Energy to build a 176-turbine wind farm on the Lammermoor Range.
Trust southern general manager Malcolm Duff said, in a statement, the trust had been in negotiation with Meridian Energy over its concerns.
Negotiations related to the impact of the wind farm on the heritage values of the Old Dunstan Rd, including protection of the archaeological features, such as old gold workings, and visual protection of the Dunstan trail as a heritage road.
Mr Duff said the trust and Meridian Energy had reached an agreement on mitigation measures which satisfactorily addressed the trust’s concerns.
The Environment Court case for Project Hayes is expected to start on May 19.
