Aide: US House vote on energy tax credits likely in May

Solar and wind-power companies may get a boost within the next two weeks when the U.S. House of Representatives is expected to vote on extending tax credits for the industries, a House Democratic leadership aide said early Wednesday.

The renewable-energy tax credits would be included in a broader package that extends a host of tax breaks, the aide said. The aide added that the package would “likely” be on the House floor before the chamber’s Memorial Day recess.

Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus, D-Mont., in April unveiled a tax extension package that renewed the renewable-energy tax credits for one year. Companies are clamoring for the tax credits to be renewed, saying future projects would be put on hold unless Congress acts.
