Wind turbines designed to provide green energy for Lincolnshire have been blocked by planners.
An application for 10 wind turbines, each measuring 125m high in the Vale of Belvoir has been rejected by South Kesteven district council’s development control committee.
Last week, plans to build eight wind turbines near Gainsborough were turned down by a Government inspector.
Your Energy wanted to build the turbines at Mount Pleasant Farm, Laughton, to create enough power for 7,000 homes.
The reasons for the Belvoir site rejection included ‘significant visual intrusion in to the landscape’ and ‘the adverse effects on the setting and visual amenity of a number of heritage assets.’
The 10 turbines at Thackson’s Well Farm in Long Bennington could have provided clean, green energy for up to 16,000 homes.
The Open Spaces Society, which campaigned against the wind farm, said it was “delighted” about the decision.
