Wind farm plans revealed

A wind farm could soon be on your doorstep after a Manchester-based company launched a consultation into siting an alternative energy plant a stone’s throw from Biggleswade.

The Co-operative Group has identified a swathe of land straddling Biggleswade and Langford parishes that stretches from Edworth Way to Holme Green and the railway line to the A1 – a plot measuring around two by one-and-a-half miles that butts up to the Homebase roundabout.

A consultation to investigate any issues that might influence a planning decision is currently under way and is expected to take around six months.

Langford Parish Council clerk, Philip Rutt, told the Chronicle: “If there aren’t any problems they would expect to design a suitable wind farm and make a planning application.

“This particular group constructed a wind farm at Coldham in Cambridgeshire in 2005 and apparently the local community there were very happy with it, they claim.”

Representatives from the company have been invited to speak to the council at a meeting on June 2.
