Blackcraig windfarm inquiry delay

The public inquiry into the Blackcraig windfarm development had been delayed until later in the year.

Scottish and Southern Energy’s plans to build 23 turbines in the Glenkens are being considered by the inquiry.

A Scottish Government reporter asked for the windfarm hearing to be suspended until October to allow the impact of wind turbines on radar systems to be assessed.

The Ministry of Defence has objected to some proposals on those grounds, but its claims have been contested by power companies. A Scottish government spokesperson said: “The inquiry has been suspended pending detailed discussions between the applicant and air trafic control on the issues away fromt he public inquiry.

“A date will be set in due course for the inquiry to be reconvened.”
