Neighbours to fight turbines

Residents have launched an appeal to challenge planning approval given for nine 125m wind turbines.

The people from Den Brook Valley, near Okehampton, are concerned they haven’t been given all the details. At a hearing at the High Court in London last month, Judge Mitting refused to overturn the Government’s approval of the wind farm.

Mike Hulme, who is spearheading legal action, is a close neighbour of the proposed site. He has formally requested noise data and is appealing for financial assistance for the case.

He said: “I find it incredible that Renewable Energy Systems don’t think local residents have an automatic right to critical noise data.

“I feel I have no choice but to continue the legal challenge. I ask everyone who agrees with our concerns, and who wishes to stand with us for justice, human rights and local democracy, to contact and support the team working alongside me.

“We hope that our efforts will safeguard not only our community, but also other communities who face similar issues.”
