Object on the web to wind farms explosion

In the Camelford area of North Cornwall we often suppose that we are the only ones in the county to be awash with wind power applications, having two wind farms running, and three new ones threatened, but applications are springing up all over Cornwall, the latest being at Fiddlers Green, near Newlyn East.

The sad truth is that people who object are up against planing officers that nearly always recommend approval because of government pressure, and planning committees that do not understand or realise what they are responsible for.

The reason for the push for on-shore wind power is that the latest figures show that off-shore wind costs about £2.9 million per MW of installed power against only £1 million for on shore.

Ironically, the true cost of electricity produced, because they are less than 30% efficient, should be put at three times this, while the companies will make about £800,000 per MW hour per year.

People who would like to object to this fiasco can do so online at the Prime Minister’s site – petitions.pm.gov.uk/windpower/
