Carrajung residents to fight wind farm plan

Land-holders in Carrajung are preparing to fight plans to build a wind farm in the area.

Synergy Wind is carrying out tests at a site on Grand Ridge Road and will make an application to council once the process is completed.

Wellington Shire Council previously rejected Synergy’s application to build a wind farm at nearby Devon North, but the decision was overturned by the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal.

Carrajung resident Terry Vincent says the wind farm would be an eyesore that would hurt the local tourism industry.

“There’s the noise of the wind going through the rotors, the gears et cetera through the ground, flicker from the windmills as the blades pass through the setting sun, the danger to wildlife, the visual pollution to looking out your window at this huge great monstrosity there,” he said.
