Wind turbine plans on display

An Exhibition about a proposed wind farm at Sheerness Docks is being held this month. Peel Wind Power organised the day so people can discover more about plans to put up four turbines.

Development manager Richard Dibley said: “We believe it’s extremely important for us to keep the local community fully informed and that’s why we’ve set up this exhibition. I’d urge any interested people to come along to see the plans, to talk about any issues they might have and to find out why we think this industrial site is such a great place for a wind farm. Onshore wind is one of the most effective ways to generate clean renewable energy and, if given the go ahead, the proposed scheme could generate enough clean green power for the average annual electricity needs of up to 4,400 homes.”

The project has the potential to meet 13 per cent of the possible wind energy target for the Kent region. Specialists will be on hand to answer questions and to talk more about the need for renewable energy.

The exhibition is at the Hope Street Centre between 3pm and 8pm on Wednesday and Thursday, April 9 and 10. The Government has called on companies to generate more electricity from renewable energy sources to combat climate change.
