With regard to industrial wind turbines, I am not against any form of renewable energy but do share the concerns of many members of the public regarding the potential impact on the landscape and ecology as well as the effects on tourism, businesses and the value of homes.
However, my greatest concern is the impact on the health and well-being of nearby residents, workers and schoolchildren who will be subjected to noise and low frequency infrasound from these huge mechanical structures.
Infrasound travels further than audible noise, is ground-borne and is felt through vibrations. Various reports have been documented by medical professionals around the world stating that contrary to the assertions of the wind industry, some people feel disturbing amounts of vibration or pulsation from wind turbines, and can count in their bodies, especially their chests, the beats of the blades passing the towers, even when they can’t hear or see them.
History has shown that it can take many years for the devastating effects of what has previously been considered acceptable practice to become apparent.
