Draft DCP won't impact wind farm plans

The Mayor of Glen Innes Severn Council says its new draft development control plans (DCP) governing power generators will not affect plans for two large-scale wind farms on the Waterloo Ranges and at Ben Lomond.

The council is to release its DCP for public comment, but Steve Toms says the plants on the Waterloo Ranges and at Ben Lomond are considered to be of state significance and will be determined by the New South Wales Government.

He says the council’s new plan will only apply to smaller wind farms.

“What the DCP confirms is that those direct impacts, neighbours that don’t get compensation from being right beside these generators do actually have some say in terms of some distances and the way noise etcetera will be assessed,” he said.
