I am concerned by Infinergy’s claim it only wants to borrow the land for 25 years to build the wind farm in the Vale of Belvoir.
Does this really mean that when the turbines are decommissioned it would take everything away including the foundations of up to 1,000 tons of concrete per turbine? Of course it does not.
What happens if a wind farm company fails? Who is left with the responsibility of maintaining the turbines?
Future generations may have to spend vast amounts of public money clearing up wind turbine sites abandoned by failed wind farm companies when the Government stops issuing Renewable Obligation Certificates – the only thing that makes inland based wind turbines viable.
SKDC would not allow planning permission for an apartment block in that location, so why did the planning department recommend that 10 massive 125m tall wind generators could be acceptable?
