Wind energy spin

The claims made in favour of wind energy by wind power companies and “green” politicians are highly exaggerative.

I drove past the wind turbine on the hill overlooking the Centre of Alternative Technology (CAT) at Machynlleth on March 5, on my way to Holyhead and Dublin for the rugby international. The turbine was completely stationary. It stood there giving a large “V” sign to passing traffic!

It has recently been admitted by CAT that they are connected to the National Grid.

So they utilise fossil fuel electricity like everyone else. Yet this institution is the WAG “think tank” for renewable energy!

On March 18, at 10am, no fewer than 11 of the 25 off-shore wind turbines on Burbo Bank, off the Lancashire coast were on stop. Meanwhile, at 2.15pm on the same day, two of the three wind turbines overlooking Newcastle Emlyn, Carmarthenshire, were only turning slowly, while the third was on stop.

One of these turbines is about 120 metres from the busy Cardigan/Carmarthen road.

About three weeks ago, a Danish wind turbine spun out of control in a gale, and exploded, catapulting huge shards of razor-sharp debris for up to 500 metres.

Imagine if this occurred in Newcastle Emlyn or near a Welsh village?

Wind energy is the ultimate Government spin!
