This is the true representation of the pro-wind turbine clan

I read the article ‘Bat corridor halts plan for four turbines‘ in last week’s edition with interest. The first half of the article is a true representation of the meeting, but I was dismayed by the somewhat incorrect picture this article portrays of the true representation for and against wind power.

The photo shows the number of people protesting for wind power, however, the great majority of people attending the meeting were anti wind turbines.

While Jon Hooper claims that he represents the majority of local people, I believe this claim is neither supported by any evidence nor is it in any way reflected in the number of letters of support for the plans.

If he has gone door to door then why did he not do a petition? In fact more than 230 letters were received in objection, while only approximately 50 were received in support.

His excuse that supporters are too busy to write letters is just laughable, as most of us work full-time and still make the effort.

Furthermore, the claim that supporters are too intimidated by the anti-wind turbine people is simply ridiculous, because I approached the pro-group prior to the meeting to get their views and while I was trying to have an adult conversation with the pro-wind brigade, I was shouted at, called a NIMBY and had placards waved near my face – and that is the true representation.

I am proud to protect this beautiful countryside and our wildlife, but I live far enough away from the Galsworthy project to be safe. The latter being the reason why I have invested many hours to make Torridge District Council aware of the terrible impact industrial wind turbines will have on health and amenity of residents living close to them.

It is sad that our so called ‘Green Party’ supports the destruction of our countryside, wildlife and heritage for so little, ie the financial gain of developers and landowners. While they claim that turbines are only temporary, I fail to see how 20 to 25 years can be called temporary.

While holding up the placard saying ‘Yes to Wind’ and ‘No to Nuclear’ I hope these so called ‘Greens’ will enjoy sitting in the dark!
