Plans for 10-turbine wind farm at Ancroft Northmoor

Plans for a ten turbine wind farm neighbouring the proposed Moorsyde development near Ancroft are being prepared.

Energy giant E.On UK, owners of Powergen, has submitted a scoping application to Berwick Borough Council outlining its plans for turbines up to 115 metres high near Ancroft Northmoor.

A spokesman for E.On UK said: “We have submitted a scoping report to Berwick Borough Council to develop a wind farm near Ancroft but it is still at its very early stages.

“The scoping report identifies the number of turbines we think are appropriate and are based on our initial investigations of the site. However, we have not carried out any formal studies of the site yet so that could change.”

The site adjoins the eastern edge of Your Energy’s proposed seven turbine wind farm at Moorsyde which is due to be determined, along with the Toft Hill and Barmoor applications, at a special planning meeting later this month.

A council spokesman said: “We are on schedule for a meeting of the planning committee to take place on March 27. It will be an all day meeting between 9am and 4pm at The Maltings.

“Three windfarm applications are due to be considered, Toft Hill, Barmoor and Moorsyde, however, some of the reports are still to be finalised and it could mean that not all three will be considered.”
