Comments on proposed wind farm will be accepted through March 28

The deadline for submitting comments to the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) regarding the proposed wind farm on Dry Lake Road is Friday, March 28, not April 14 as previously reported.

PPM Energy, a Portland, Ore., based company, is seeking approval to construct a 378 megawatt power generating station approximately 20 miles south of Holbrook on Highway 377. Between 105 and 209 wind turbines, along with roads and some buildings will be constructed on the site if the company receives approval.

BLM has made a finding that construction of the wind farm will have no significant impact on the surrounding environment. The finding will remain unsigned until after the public comment period has elapsed.

Citizens wishing to comment on BLM’s findings should write BLM Project Manager Roberta Lopez at 711 14th Ave., Safford, Ariz., 85546; or send an e-mail to Roberta_Lopez@blm.gov by April 14.

Documentation regarding the wind farm and the BLM study can be viewed online at www.blm.gov/az/sfo. It is also available at the Holbrook Public Library and the Snowflake/Taylor Public Library.

We apologize for any confusion or inconvenience the error may have caused.
