Land-holders meeting fails to sway Minister on wind farm

A meeting with the Lands Minister this week did not produce any new results for land-holders near Silverton.

Residents near Silverton have been fighting with the New South Wales Government over its plans to acquire land situated on four grazing properties for the development of a 500 turbine wind farm.

A spokesman for the affected land-holders, Nigel Lawrence, says while first attempts to sway Minister Tony Kelly have failed, they will try again.

“We’re just hoping that we can persuade him to change his mind with this submission that we’re lodging after he’s had a first-hand look at the country,” he said.
