Your newspaper has covered many articles in the past concerning the proposal of Harworth Mining in the building of a Windfarm on the Bleak House site.
As you know this proposal has given great concern to the many residents in this area – not just because they are against windfarms – but mainly because of the location which borders large residential areas.We believe that if planning permission was granted then these turbines, which stand at 330 feet in height, will spring up like mushrooms all across this site because when Harworth Mining was given permission (under appeal in 1992) to opencast mine this site once they had got their foot in the door they then applied to further extend their operation and were allowed to do so.
We feel the same will happen here, supported by massive subsidies awarded by the Government. What better incentive do they need?
The deadline is now running out for people to make their feelings known on this critical issue and they need to write and lodge their objections to Mr John Heminsley at Cannock Chase Council planning department quoting ref ch/08/0001 – and they have until the end of March to do so.
After this date it will be no good people complaining and saying ‘I didn’t know about it or I didn’t realise they were going to be so big or so noisy’.
I can assure residents within a two-mile radius that you will know they are there – you will certainly hear them and see them!
We would like your newspaper to publicise the importance of the support required by residents to air their views and attend the community forum meeting for the residents of Chase Terrace/Rawnsley/ Heath Hayes/Wimblebury and Norton Canes.
This will be held on Monday, March 10 at 7pm at Norton Canes High School, Burntwood Road, Norton Canes, when I have requested the wind farm issue to be placed on the agenda and also the unbelievable decision of Heath Hayes and Wimblebury Parish Council to support Harworth Mining’s application for this wind farm against the expressed wishes of their electorate.
We desperately need to get this message across to people and your publication is our last chance to do this before the planning committee sits in April to make the final decision on this matter.
