Gordon James, of Friends of the Earth Cymru (Have Your Say, February 26) is a political activist.
He claims I am “ridiculously inaccurate” about Danish wind power.
Then he writes that the Danish policy statement (2007) set targets from renewable sources by 2005.
He actually agrees with me; Danish wind farm policy does not know its 2007s from its 2005s.
Pauli Andersen, writing in the respected Danish newspaper Berlingske Tidene, states: “New government data shows it cannot pay to depend on wind turbines to fight climate change”.
As I said, the Danes have made a big mistake with their CO? ambitions.
The Assembly Government proposal will triple the Tan8 target number of turbines. Tan8 areas are beautiful upland areas of Wales.
We can see the Neath Valley’s wind farm from Mumbles, Mayhill, Townhill and even Cefn Bryn – merely the start of Swansea’s ring of steel.
The Times on February 25 printed horrific photos of a Danish wind turbine self-destructing in high wind. It was reported elsewhere that the incident resulted in a 19-metre piece of blade being thrown 20 metres, while razor-sharp shards were catapulted more than 500 metres.
How dare these political activists promote these useless, dangerous wind monsters?
