Torridge planners have recommended refusal of a proposal to create a new wind farm near Buckland Brewer.Next Generation Ltd is looking to site four 100m turbines on land at Galsworthy near Stibb Cross.
The plans also include access tracks, hard standing areas, an information board, and electricity sub-station.
Concerns have been raised over what has been described as a “significant” visual impact and potential noise impact of the proposed development.
Torridge District Council has received 231 letters of representation including an objection from the Campaign to Protect Rural England, and 60 letters of support.
Other concerns raised include the large number of minor roads that would be affected, and that the wind farm would be too close to other existing and proposed wind farms.
Objectors say the cumulative visual assessment does not include the proposed Crimp wind farm site near Morwenstow in North Cornwall that is now at an appeal stage, and at Wheelers Cross, Bradworthy – home to North Devon’s first wind farm.
The developers say the turbines have a generating capacity of 9.2MW.
A decision is expected to be made at Torridge District Council’s plans committee meeting this afternoon.
