The company developing a 62 turbine wind farm north of Goulburn has asked the New South Wales Government to modify its development consent, to increase the size of the turbine generators.
In February last year, the Land and Environment Court granted RES Southern Cross consent to develop the $185 million wind farm east of Taralga.
Now the company wants approval to use bigger turbines.
The company’s commercial director, Colin Liebman, says the machines it had based the project on have been withdrawn from the market.
“The manufacturers have stopped producing non-standard tower heights and so that means we can’t get the machines we originally wanted to,” he said.
Mr Liebman says the modification will allow optimal technology to be applied to generating clean energy, without impacting on the environment or the community.
