Ian Krygowski, a representative for enXco returns to Tuesday night’s Mower County Planning Commission meeting.
Krygowski is enXco’s project manager for a wind energy project in Pleasant Valley and Grand Meadow townships.
Twice before, Krygowski has been before the planning commission and once he has made a presentation to the Mower County Board of Commissioners.
Each time, Krygowski has won over both critics of the wind energy project and county officials with his willingness to re-examine the enXco conditional use permit petitions to satisfy critics’ concerns.
This may be his last challenge.
On Feb. 12, the planning commission voted to recommend approval of CUP requests to construct a 161 kv substation in Grand Meadow Township and construct a 161 kv high voltage transmission line in the 2 townships
The planning commission also agreed to allow Krygowski time to meet with the dissenting landowners prior to a Feb. 12 county board public hearing.
At that hearing, Krygowski again agreed to waive the 60-day ruling requiring a decision on the wind energy project requests in order to meet with the landowners once again.
Now, the planning commission will hear the results of that meeting and make new recommendations to the county board before a March 11 public hearing to decide the fate of the requests once and for all.
This time, exXco is seeking a CUP to build the substation at a new site: property owned by the Linus and Edna Knobbe estate in Section 7, Grand Meadow Township.
The previously proposed site for the substation was Section 8 in Grand Meadow Township on property owned by Paul Merz.
Vicky and Mark Hessenius, Dan Page and David Morrison have all raised concerns with the enXco requests.
The new substation site is on the north side of Interstate 90 and further from the freeway than the old proposed site which was on the south side.
Tuesday night’s planning commission agenda also includes 2 requests from Tim Koch to amend 2 CUPs to expand operations of quarries and gravel pits in Sections 35 and 22 in LeRoy Township.
The meetings begins 7 p.m. Tuesday in the county commissioners’ meeting room in the lower level of the courthouse/government center in downtown Austin.
Visitors are asked to use the west main entrance near the Austin – Mower County Law Enforcement Center.
The public hearing to decide all the CUP requests is scheduled 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 11.
