Developer shrinks Old Hutton windfarm plan

People power has forced a reduction in the size of the turbines at a planned windfarm in South Lakeland, according to the developers behind the scheme.

Revised proposals for a new windfarm near Old Hutton will go on display in the village’s public hall at the end of the month.

Banks Developments first revealed plans for the Armistead wind farm at a similar public exhibition in August last year, and following feedback from local residents and other statutory consultees, the company has made amendments to the plans, including reducing the size of the turbines.

Renewable projects director Rob Williams said: “The feedback from visitors to our first exhibition had a direct impact on the updated plans we have developed, including reducing the overall height of the turbines by 20 per cent, and we hope everyone will be able to come along to see how the scheme has evolved.”

The company hopes to submit a planning application to South Lakeland Council at the beginning of March.
