The green light for a wind farm off Redcar is to be challenged in the High Court.
Redcar and Cleveland Council has confirmed it will contest the Government’s decision to allow EDF Energy’s proposed wind farm.
Permission was granted last September for the controversial scheme to proceed, without a public inquiry.
Now the council will challenge that decision in the High Court on Thursday, March 13.
The council said it was acting on behalf of 6,500 people who objected to John Hutton, Secretary of State for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform.
The hearing will decide whether the council can apply for a judicial review of the Secretary of State’s decision.
