Panel finishes hearing Crowlands wind farm input

The planning panel for the Crowlands wind farm finished in Beaufort, in central Victoria, yesterday.

During the past two weeks residents have had their say on the project and the independent panel has inspected the site, 25 kilometres north-east of Ararat.

Pacific Hydro’s Andrew Richards says the usual issues were discussed, including visual amenity, job opportunities and the environmental benefits of the project.

Mr Richards says the hearing went well and he is confident the 75-turbine facility will get planning approval.

“We’ve done this quite a few times before, so we’ve got a reasonably good handle on what’s required by the panel,” he said.

“There’s always a few things that they throw up that you need to go and do a little bit more research on, but all our export reports were very, very fulsome and we felt as though we’d not left any stone unturned.”
