Views aired on wind farm

A wind farm of up to 12 turbines at heights of between 100 and 130 metres is being proposed for land between Yelvertoft, Lilbourne and the M1.

Energy developer Your Energy is looking at building the turbines on the farmland and says its plans are at an early stage.

Charlotte Healey, development manager for Your Energy, said: “At the moment our knowledge of the site indicates there is potential for around 12 turbines, but there are many studies to be done over the coming year that will determine whether the site is suitable, and how many turbines it could accommodate.”

The company will consult with local people before making any formal planning application to Daventry District Council. It also says if the wind farm goes ahead, it will establish a fund to benefit local communities.

Yelvertoft Parish Council discussed the proposals at a meeting on Monday night.

Chairman John Platt said: “The parish councillors present were unanimous in the opinion that they didn’t want a wind farm this close to Yelvertoft. It was for various reasons, some technical ones and some reliability problems that might come from a wind farm built on low-lying farmland.

“We’re now waiting for the public meeting we expect on February 26 to find out more.”
