Four proposed wind farm sites will come before municipal council on Monday.
Gengrowth is planning to install turbines in North, South, East and West Kent.
The Marsh Line project in Dover consists of five turbines on four parcels of land. A project on Bisnett Line in Harwich would have five turbines on three parcels of land.
Howard’s Front Line project would also have five turbines on two parcels of land. The Swanton Line project in Tilbury East would have the same number on three parcels.
Each of these projects – to be presented as separate applications – would generate 10 megawatts of electricity and have land parcels set aside for contingency purposes.
Last year, Gengrowth held open houses in the impacted communities to address concerns.
However, in a recent council information package, several residents wrote to say they plan to request an adjournment on Monday in order to prepare submissions.
Here are other items to be discussed during Monday’s combined regular/planning meeting:
In the interest of bird habitats and migration routes, Wallaceburg Coun. Sheldon Parsons will request a report on wind turbine setback provisions. This would include the appropriateness of having three-kilometre and five-kilometre setbacks from Lake Erie and Lake St. Clair, respectively.
Parsons will ask that council lobby the province to amend lottery rules to allow the municipality to issue licences for card tournaments, such as euchre.
South Kent Coun. Frank Vercouteren will ask for an administrative report on the cost to install safety coat hooks in arena dressing rooms.
