Let's put wind turbines on Mountain Md. plates

I read with great interest the news article on Page 1B of the Times-News, Feb. 3, concerning the Mountain Maryland license plates now available.

I wonder if the logo shown on the vinyl likeness of the new plates should depict a giant wind turbine installed on the hill shown in said logo. It would appear that we will soon have these monstrosities decorating our ridgetops in both of Maryland’s two westernmost counties.

When traveling south on U S 219 from the Oakland area to Tucker County, WV, one can easily see the devastating effect this project will have on our countryside.

Where the highway crosses Backbone Mountain, the once beautiful countryside resembles a war zone.

From information I have gotten from the print media and the Internet, these windmills are of very low efficiency and are of limited output.

But then I suppose we should go along with the program since our down-state leaders think this is the path we should follow. After all, out of sight – out of mind.
