Wind farm referrals

Two planning applications to build windfarms near Nantglyn are set to be referred to Denbighshire’s full council.

Both Brenig Wind Ltd, which had applied to build 16 wind turbines (each 100m tall) on land east of Llyn Brenig, and Tegni Cymru Cyf, which had sort permission to erect 13, 125m tall wind turbines at Gorsedd Bran, south west of Nantglyn, had their applications refused by the county council’s planning committee last month.

Council officers can refer a matter to the full council if a previous decision is likely to result in a successful award of costs against the council at appeal.

“Officers have taken this step in respect of the two applications, based on external professional advice,” said a spokesman for Denbighshire County Council.

The matter will be discussed on Tuesday, February 26 at County Hall, Ruthin.
