Reject wind plant proposals

Logan Township and the Borough of Tyrone are faced with decisions regarding industrial wind plants. Both municipalities can benefit from the knowledge of the many problems that have plagued residents near industrial wind turbines and from recent research showing the harm that these facilities bring to our ridgetop ecosystems.

Logan Township is faced with a request to expand its industrial wind energy zone north to beyond Route 36, uphill from Avalon Road.

A wind plant north of Route 36 would cause the same problems for the residents of Avalon Road as are being experienced by the people suffering from the noise of the Allegheny Ridge wind plant. The Logan Township supervisors should reject Gamesa’s request.

The Borough of Tyrone is faced with the decision whether to lease its municipal watershed to Gamesa for an industrial wind plant.

Massive community opposition, as well as opposition from the Moshannon Group of the Sierra Club, the Little Juniata River Association and Juniata Valley Audubon, make it clear that this project is bad for Tyrone. Tyrone Borough Council should reject Gamesa’s proposal.
