Full council for turbine votes

Two planning applications for wind farms in Denbighshire are set to be referred to the full Denbighshire County Council.

Both schemes in the Nantglyn area were refused by the planning committee last month.

Council officers can refer a matter to the full council if a previous decision is likely to result in a successful award of costs against the council at appeal.

A council spokesman said: “Officers have taken this step in respect of the two applications, based on external professional advice.”

One proposed 16-turbine windfarm by Brenig Wind would be on land east of Llyn Brenig at Nantglyn.

There is another plan for a proposed 13-turbine windfarm by Tegni Cymru Cyf at Gorsedd Bran, Nantglyn.

The applicants and objectors will be told about the referral to full council on Monday, February 4. The matter will be discussed on Tuesday, February 26 at County Hall, Ruthin.
