As a well-paid lobbyist for a multibillion-dollar energy industry, I would expect this type of response from Mr. Timm.
There are certainly no adequate policies and processes in place to guide responsible wind development in Ontario. Your lobby group was given free reign to write policy word for word by the government in power. I believe, if your lobby group had its way, there would be no restrictions on where you can set up shop.The Canadian Wildlife Services has bowed down to your group and agreed not to make bird mortality information available to the public.
The environmental assessment process for industrial turbines is a farce.
No full assessment has been granted for any wind farm in Ontario. All projects have been rubber-stamped at the review level.
When I asked one of your Canadian Wind Energy Association colleagues if he thought it was responsible to site a large wind facility a short distance from Holiday Beach, he responded “the government allows us to do it.”
You claim Erie Shores Wind Farm shows no significant bird mortality. What do you define as significant? I have no way to rebut this claim, as you have ensured this data has been kept from the public.
CanWEA is not an environmental group. They are industrial lobbyists whose job it is to minimize the negative.
