A Hillside in the Dulais Valley could soon be home to 14 wind turbines.Renewable energy firm Acciona wants to put them on farmland east of Crynant and south of Seven Sisters.
It has submitted a planning application to Neath Port Talbot Council and is holding exhibitions in both villages next month.
The turbines will be 125m tall and company bosses say they could generate enough electricity to power a fifth of homes in Neath.
The £21million scheme is the latest in a series of similar proposals across the county, which started in earnest when the Assembly designated swathes of it as suitable for wind power generation.
“This project will help meet Wales’s need for more sustainable energy and won’t have a lasting impact on the landscape,” said Mike Paffey, senior development manager at Acciona.
The company, which began investigating the spot some years ago, said it will set aside money to benefit surrounding villages.
“This application sees the continuation of our proven track record of developing projects sensitively and in close co-operation with local communities,” said Mr Paffey.
Seven Sisters councillor Stephen Hunt said it was vital villagers were fully involved in deciding whether the scheme could go ahead.
“The people who will be most affected must have a chance to hear both sides of the argument and then be given a real say in what happens,” he said.
Exhibitions will be at Seven Sisters Community Hall on Monday, February 18, and at Crynant Community Hall on Thursday, February 21, from noon to 8pm.
