Cape Wind revises permit application

The Army Corps of Engineers says it has received a revised permit application from Cape Wind Associates LLC for the wind farm the company wants to build in Nantucket Sound.

Cape Wind made public the series of proposed adjustments more than a year ago. The changes are “minor,” according to a public notice from the Army Corps.

The changes to the permit application include a reduction in the number of red aviation lights that would be required by the Federal Aviation Administration. The configuration and location of the turbines also are different from the original application.

None of the changes is new, and the revisions to the application are routine for major projects during permitting, Cape Wind spokesman Mark Rodgers said last night.

The Army Corps will accept public comments on the changes until Feb. 21. Comments can be sent to U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New England District, Regulatory Division, Attention: Karen Adams or Kevin Kotelly, 696 Virginia Road, Concord, MA 01742-2751.
