There are eight operating wind farms in the Westcountry, comprising 106 turbines.The total electricity generated by them is enough to power 24,687 homes and the largest site is at Cold Northcott, in North Cornwall, where there are 22 turbines.
The others are: Bears Down, North Cornwall, 16 turbines; Four Burrows, North Cornwall, 15 turbines; St Breock, North Cornwall, 11 turbines; Goonhilly Downs, North Cornwall, 14 turbines; Carland Cross, North Cornwall, 15 turbines; Delabole, North Cornwall, 10 turbines; and Forest Moor, North Devon, with one turbine.
There is also a site under construction at Shooters Bottom Farm, in Somerset, where one turbine will generate enough power for 1,118 homes. There are six further consented projects in the region, comprising 45 turbines, which will generate power for another 57,397 homes. These are: Fullabrook Down, North Devon, 22 turbines; Den Brook, Mid- Devon, nine turbines; Higher Darracott, West Devon, three turbines; WWF Roskrow Barton, West Cornwall, two turbines; St Breock Repowering, Mid-Cornwall, eight turbines; and Swingdon, West Devon, one turbine.
There are also ten projects in the planning process. If granted, another 44 turbines will go up in the region, generating enough power for 43,182 homes. These are: Goonhilly Repowering, North Cornwall, 15 turbines; Galsworthy, North Devon, four turbines; Cross Moor, North Devon, two turbines; Batsworthy Cross, North Devon, nine turbines; West Hinkley Resubmission, Somerset, nine turbines; Otterham B, North Cornwall, five turbines; Beech Tree Wind Farm, Goveton, South Devon, three turbines; WWG, Cricket St Thomas, Somerset, three turbines; Proposed Sherford Community, South Devon, two turbines; and Odd Down, Somerset, one turbine.
