Opponents to a wind farm planned for Newfield, just north of Port Campbell in south-west Victoria, are hoping a last minute meeting this week will stop the project gaining approval.
Acciona wants to erect 15 turbines that will be 110 metres high, and visible from the Great Ocean Road.
Former tourism Minister Fran Bailey is among those to voice concerns about the plan.
A local opponent, Jim Matthews, says a meeting with the Corangamite council on Thursday night is the last chance to convince councillors before they vote on the project next week.
“I think it’s the most important in the fact that it looks like it’ll be the last chance we’ll have to say anything before an official decision is made and put down on paper,” he said.
“Once that happens, I think there’ll be more important discussions had then to see what way the local people want to go.”
Corangamite Mayor Ruth Gstrein says she will attend Thursday’s meeting with the objectors.
She says there are several things she will have to weigh up when she votes on the wind farm application.
“Personally I take into consideration the proposal, the effects the proposal is going to have on the environment, the amenity of land, amenity of lifestyle of the nearby residents … as well as the concerns, the very serious concerns that have been raised by the submitters,” she said.
