Flurry of wind deals struck across Europe over the past year

Recent wind deals include:

# November 2006: Spanish utilities group Iberdrola acquires Scottish Power for £11.6bn (€15.5bn), giving it a large portfolio of wind farms in Britain and the US

# December 2006: Electricite de France’s renewable energies unit EDF Energies Nouvelles floats in Paris; the stock has since soared almost 66pc

# May 2007: Babcock & Brown Wind Partners completes a €1bn refinancing and releveraging of its wind farm portfolio, stretched across Europe, Australia and the US

# May 2007: Portuguese power company Energias de Portugal (EDP) buys US wind-farm company Horizon Energy from Goldman Sachs in $2.7bn (€1.8bn)

# August 2007: German utilities giant E.On snaps up Danish oil and gas group DONG Energy’s Spanish and Portuguese wind farm assets for €722m.

# August 2007: UK energy group International Power buys Dublin-based Trinergy, which operates wind farms in Germany and Italy, in €1.84bn deal

# December 2007: Iberdrola floats its renewable energy arm Iberdrola Renovables in Madrid

# December 2007: E.On completes its $1.4bn (€990m) purchase of Airtricity’s North American business

# January 2007: Scottish & Southern Energy agrees to acquire Airtricity’s remaining European and Asian assets in €2.2bn
