The Maryland Department of Natural Resources has changed the dates of two public meetings about the possibility of wind-power projects on state forest land in Western Maryland.
The first meeting will be held the night of January 30 at Garrett College in McHenry, a week later than previously scheduled. The meeting was originally to have been held at Grantsville Elementary School.
The second meeting is set for the night of January 31 at the Arundel Center in Annapolis. That’s also a week later than previously scheduled, although the venue hasn’t changed.
Spokeswoman Olivia Campbell said the dates were changed partly to accommodate a large crowd in Garrett County, based on the number of comments the DNR has received about a developer’s proposal to lease 400 mountaintop acres for about 100 giant wind turbines.
