Wind turbines 125m high to come to town?

WIND turbines 125 metres high could be an new addition to the Warrington landscape.

Wind Direct, a renewable energy specialist from Lancashire, is looking at the possibility of constructing three wind turbines at Causeway Bridges Farm near Burtonwood.

The turbines would have a maximum tower height of 78.5m and a blade diameter of 92.5m making the full length of the structure 125m high.

The company behind the plans specialises in providing renewable energy to businesses nearby and is currently in talks with those near the site to offer the energy generated.

Surveys have been carried out by Wind Direct to make what it calls an environmentally acceptable proposal’ for the site.

Residents can now have their say on the proposals and see the plans for the area at a public exhibition at Burtonwood Church Hall next week.

Development staff from Wind Direct will be on hand to explain the plans, answer questions and listen to the views of those who attend.

The meeting takes place on Thursday, January 17 from 12.30pm until 8pm.
