Two wind farms have been given the go-ahead near Haswell.
E-ON UK Renewables Developments will be allowed to build five turbines at Haswell Moor Farm, and Hallam Land Management can erect two more at Colliery Farm in Green Lane, Haswell.
The E-ON structures will be up to 110metres high, with each having a 15metre by 15metre base.
Construction is expected to take a year and the operation life of the turbines will be 25 years.
A list of objections was submitted to Easington District Council, which included concerns about the affect they would have on wildlife and noise pollution, but the application was approved.
Planning officers had recommended approval because the development is in keeping with national and regional policies.
The plan for Colliery Farm shows the turbines will be 100metres high, with construction to take seven months.
They are also expected to be in use for 25 years at the Coalford Lane site, which will include a meteorological mast.
