An ordinance to regulate wind energy systems should be on the books in the town of Morrison by early January.
The town board held a public hearing on the proposed ordinance and reviewed suggestions by John St. Peter, a Fond du Lac attorney who has advised several towns in crafting similar ordinances.
At the hearing, a representative of a company seeking to build wind turbines in southern Brown County said he had few problems with the proposed ordinance, including St. Peter’s suggested additions to fine-tune it.
“We know we could operate within these ordinances,” Invenergy spokesman Bill Blackmore told the board. He said he agreed with most of St. Peter’s revisions.
Blackmore responded to concerns raised by citizens. He said the only wind turbine tower collapse was the result of a tornado in Oklahoma.
Blackmore also said windmill spinning is not significant enough to cause photosensitive seizures in people with epilepsy.
The board agreed to table any action until late December or early January.
