Turbine inquiry timescale set out

A public inquiry into a proposed wind farm in the Lammermuir Hills is due to last more than two weeks.

North British Windpower Ltd lodged an appeal after planning permission for 48 turbines was rejected by Scottish Borders Council (SBC).

East Lothian Council, Scottish Natural Heritage and hundreds of individuals opposed the Fallago Rig development.

The inquiry, in The Volunteer Hall in Duns, will start on 5 February and run until 22 February.

SBC has already raised objections to the application.

At a meeting earlier this year they decided to oppose the scheme – which had been reduced from 64 turbines – by nine votes to three.

The fate of the development will now be decided after the public inquiry.
