Opposition to turbines grows

Whitfield Parish Council has thrown its support behind a pressure group’s campaign to topple plans for five 120-metre wind turbines in East Langdon.

The renewable energy scheme, proposed for land off Archers Court Road, is the idea of electricity firm Ecotricity. It is already being opposed by the Langdon Action Group.

A statement from Whitfield Parish Council reads: “It is the council’s opinion that the impacts are adverse and serious and that the application should be refused. This wind turbines are too big, too close to homes, have safety implications and will impact on the landscape.”
