The West Virginia Supreme Court has set Jan. 9, 2008, to hear the appeal by MCRE (Mountain Communities for Responsible Energy) regarding the Beech Ridge Wind Turbine Project permit.
MCRE argues that the application by Beech Ridge Developers did not comply with the letter and spirit of the Public Service Commission’s own rules and, as a result of this noncompliance, the potential impacts of the project on communities within the local vicinity were not adequately considered.
MCRE is a grassroots non-profit organization supported entirely by fund-raising efforts and contributions from individuals in the community. An antique auction fund-raiser is planned for the spring and donations to help finance the cost of the ongoing legal battle are welcome anytime. To help out or request more information write to MCRE, P.O. Box 1, Williamsburg, WV 24991 or visit www.wvmcre.org/.
