Wrightstown tables wind turbine request

The town of Wrightstown Planning Commission tabled the request of Prelude LLC for a conditional-use permit to build a wind turbine tower in the northeast corner of the town.

The proposed site is on the south side of School Road, halfway between Blake Road and Brown County W, on a field owned by Denmar Acres LLC.

Dennis Zirbel, 6489 County W, is listed as the registered agent for Denmar.

Prelude LLC was represented by its president, Thomas Mattson, and by David Vander Leest, an associate of Mattson.

Records with the state Department of Financial Institutions list Mattson as the firm’s registered agent, giving an address of 4751 Bayside in Suamico.

Mattson said his firm is planning to build seven of the wind energy towers – large monopole windmills that use wind power to generate electricity – in the town of Glenmore.

The site proposed on the Denmar property in the town of Wrightstown is across the road from Glenmore.

Mattson said his firm’s goal is to build enough towers to generate 20 megawatts of electricity.

The Denmar property is the company’s first proposal to build a facility outside of Glenmore.
