Plan to add turbines in Bingham County withdrawn for now

A legal technicality is forcing the company that wants to build more wind turbines in Bingham County to withdraw its plan, at least for now.

Seattle-based Ridgeline Energy wanted to add 150 turbines in the Wolverine Canyon area. But, about 30 people protested the plan saying it would ruin the area for recreation.

During a meeting Tuesday morning Ridgeline decided to withdraw its special use permit.

The decision came because the county did not give 17 property owners in the area close to the turbines notice of the chance to voice their opinion about the project.

Ridgeline says it will reapply for the permit but probably not until the first of the year.
