Insane plan to favour turbines over trees

The latest announcement by the Welsh First Minister, Rhodri Morgan, that Forestry Commission land is to be given up to accommodate wind farms borders on the insane, and the thought “whom God wishes to destroy, he first sends mad” flashes through the brain!

What an absurdity even to think of felling hundreds of trees (the lungs of Wales) and to replace them with hundreds of tons of concrete for foundations, not forgetting access roads and all the support infrastructure needed for connecting to the power network.

Think of all that carbon dioxide being released into the atmosphere – is the Welsh Assembly not aware of global warming?

If this is a sound plan then I am Napoleon (with a senile grin) at Waterloo! Indeed, it stretches all credibility.

What on earth do we need these ineffective providers of intermittent electrical energy for, anyway?

Remember, we over-provide power generation in Wales, and it cannot be stressed too often that a wind farm has not, and will not, close any fossil fuel power station.

Surely, if the Welsh Assembly wishes to export more electrical power, it should be concentrating on other more sensible and viable renewable forms of electrical energy, and then what about energy conservation?

Time for Rhodri Morgan and his gang to step down, I would suggest.
