We all pay the cost of these developments

– Amec are back again with another attempt to industrialise a hilltop set right in the middle of the second most populated area of Moray and highly visible from the main route into and out of our district. Thirteen proposed turbines, but with room on the site for another 20.

I am writing to all the Moray councillors, not to go over all the arguments against this development at Aultmore, these will be covered by objections elsewhere and by many others, but to ask them to seriously consider what damage these developments are doing to our landscape and to the amenity of us poor souls who are going to have them as neighbours.

There can be little doubt that land-based wind farms, wherever they are situated, are the result of an economic and political con trick played on the British, and particularly the Scottish, public by a discredited bunch of politicians anxious to briefly strut around on the world stage setting totally unattainable gains for CO2 reductions.

The few people benefiting from these developments are the developers who can double their money before a development is finished, as happened at the Glens of Foudland (see various press reports).

We all pay the cost of these developments through higher electricity bills, as wind generated energy is almost twice the cost of normally generated power.

The developer’s community funds are a joke – it’s like the colonialists handing out glass beads to the natives in Africa.

The promise of worthwhile local jobs would be funny if it were not so sad – how many locals are working permanently on the existing working wind farms scarring our uplands? Most are sitting in offices on the continent.

I am asking councillors to consider their legacy to the people of Moray as a public servant, and vote against these developments. – Yours etc,
